Narrative

Eunice Banks was married to Tallie G. Estes when they were 19 yrs. old. Tallie had typhoid fever and died a year later. They had built a house on land that Granny Carpenter had given them. When Grandpa Banks died she divided the children's half and each received the deed when they were 21 yrs. old. Eunice moved back home and as was the custom she worked for her board and room by doing laundry for the farm hands.
She married S.A. West who was working on a near by farm, and they moved into her home. Later they moved it about 1/4 mile and added to it. They lived there 50 years minus 2 weeks. The children were all born at home in the house. There was always a doctor, but he was never allowed in the room until after the birth. - Ruth Henry West
