Narrative

Mina was burned to death in her home (the family home). She was a cripple and sat in a chair while cooking her meals on a kerosine stove. We are sure her clothing caught fire. The house and everything in it was gone in a few minutes. Because she was a cripple and never married, whe was sent to college, Trinity College, at that time located in Tehuacana, Texas. - Ruth West

She used to have a number 3 washtub full of kerosene in the room, just open so no telling what happened. It was a big house (Granny Carpenter's old house) and she would move to a few rooms here, then a few rooms there, so you never knew what part of the house she was living in. - Linda
