Potrero Notes

The sad news that Mr Rush Duncan died yesterday morning at the residence of Dr. Hammond of Spring Valley, reached the Valley (Potrero) this morning and caused universal sorrow. He had been ailing for some time, but the end came as a sad surprise to all. He leaves behind him a wife and large family to mourn his loss, indeed it will be many a day ere he is forgotten by any of us, for to know him was to respect and love him. Especially does the sympathy of all go out to his bereaved wife and children in this their first sorrow.

His body is being brought up from Spring Valley and will be interred to-morrow in the Potrero Cemetery - A. B. M.

This was written by Arch B. MacGillivray, published in the San Diego Paper in 1899 copied by Betty Kirchhofer May 26, 1971.
